An Articulation Program
This program is specifically designed for holders of Diplomas in Information Technology or Engineering from Singapore's polytechnics. It provides a valuable means for a student to upgrade their qualification from a Diploma to a highly respected degree and will open doors for graduates wishing to pursue a career in the IT industry.
Professional Recognition
The Bachelor of Computer Science is accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). It provides the necessary academic requirements for membership into the Australian Computer Society (ACS), The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), and the American-based Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
School of Computer Science
The School of Computer Science at The University of Adelaide boasts a world class staff with research interests including parallel processing, distributed high performance computing, computer vision, programming languages, software engineering, persistent systems, computer architecture, and numerical analysis. The staff is also extensively involved in professional consultancies for industry.
These interests and industrial relationships bring a unique authority to the undergraduate courses taught within the Bachelor of Computer Science.
Admission Criteria
The prerequisites for the Bachelor of Computer Science degree include Diplomas from the following disciplines awarded by the Polytechnics in Singapore:
Business Informatics
Computer Studies
Engineering Informatics
Information Technology
Multimedia Computing
Diploma holders of the traditional Engineering disciplines are also invited to apply. These include
Computer Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronic Engineering
Manufacturing Engineering
Mechanical Engineerng
Candidates holding diplomas other than those listed may be evaluated on a case-by-case basis for admission into the program.
Candidates are required to have achieved a B grade average in the Diploma. For those who wish to pursue the Bachelor of Computer Science through a short bridging programme, you may consider the BCS Preparatory Course.
Courses to be completed
For the Bachelor of Computer Science degree, students are required to undertake courses totaling 72 units.
Candidates with diplomas in IT or Computer Studies may be granted 45 units status towards the 3 year Bachelors degree. Thus, to complete the degree, the balance of courses totaling 27 units will need to be completed. However, the status granted also depends on the student's academic performance.
